Huong “Henna” Tran is committed to creating the first independent resource center in Vietnam for service learning, to universities, and private and public institutions.

She graduated with an MA from Clark University (USA) in International Development and Social Change, 2007, and has 18 years experience in Vietnam as a leader in community development, health care, nutrition care, social change communication/media, NGO management, civil society/ non-profit organization capacity building and development, and education.  

Huong created the first service learning resource center within a university in Vietnam at Hoa Sen University, followed by the University of Economics and Finance, and being a consultant to the Danang University of Architecture in establishing its Center for Community-Engaged Learning.

Most recently she was invited to give a paper presentation “Leadership development in service-learners through a self-concept and career-awareness project for orphan children” at the 7th Regional Service-Learning named:. “ Service-Learning: a Lifelong Journey of Social Responsibility”, organized by SUSS, Singapore June 19-21, 2019

And she was also invited to present at the symposium “Service-Learning as a response to Global Transition in Higher Education”, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland 2017. Presentation paper “Institutionalizing engaged learning through students’ initiatives and international service-learning at Hoa Sen University in Vietnam.”
